athens, greece: the first 2 weeks

After a whirlwind first two months, I am excited to finally be posting on the blog! My time here has flown by so far, due in part to the excitement and demands of starting a new job, but more so to the constant sightseeing and adventures. My cohort jumped right in with trips to the acropolis and Mt. Lycabettus within the first week. Most of us had never been to Greece before, and we were excited to see the sights near the end of tourist season. These trips were complimented by delicious food and drinks- many Greek salads and liters of house wine were shared between us.

First, pictures from Mt. Lycabettus. Mt. Lycabettus is the highest point in central Athens, leading to a chapel that overlooks the city. We did this hike and sunset, and it was beautiful.

Left top: The view of Athens from the hike up. Left middle: me at the top. Left bottom: the view of the chapel from the hike up. Right: (almost) everyone in my cohort near the top of the hill!

A few days later, we went to the acropolis! We also did this in the evening, due to the lack of crowds and the cooler weather (it was still almost 90 degrees F at this point!) The acropolis was, for lack of better words, amazing.

Left top: the view of the acropolis from a viewpoint next to it. Left bottom: sunset through the ruins at the acropolis. Right top: a group of us in front of the Parthenon. Right middle: the temple of Athena Nike. Right bottom: the theater Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

Wish I could send you a photo of me, looking envious, but it’s neither interesting nor attractive.

Cheers, Mia! Soak it all up!
